SUMMARY
“This fellowship has helped provide me with the tools and skills I will need to be successful in my future career. I am extremely appreciative of the connections I made, as well as the personal and professional development I gained through this opportunity.”
- Laticia Aossey
This fall, our long standing partner, YSS, asked Future Leaders in Action to design and manage an innovative part-time fellowship program for former foster youth with the objective of developing an outreach plan to increase Pandemic Relief Fund sign ups in Iowa while also providing them leadership and career development training. As part of the Pandemic Relief Funds, young adults ages 18 to 22 who left foster care or other court-ordered placements after age 17.5 are eligible to receive a stimulus-type, one-time pandemic relief payment of $750 available through June 30, 2022.
We are incredibly proud to welcome Haven Kaplan, Laticia Aossey, Makayla Resch, Rachel Blue, and Tee Mosley into the FLIA community.

“I’m so grateful for the efforts of the FLIA fellows to develop new ideas to reach Iowa’s foster care youth and alumni. YSS is committed to youth development, and this experience was a great example of young adults using their lived experience to create change and make a difference in our state.”
- Andrew Allen, YSS President & CEO
