Latino U Scholars Program Fellow - Latino U College Access

COVID-19 Note:
Due to COVID-19, as a fellow you will work in-person, with some work from home available. The LUCA team currently works in the office for 3 days and works from home the rest of the week. They also aim to not have more than 4 staff members in the program office at a time.
FLIA and Latino U College Access may move the fellowship entirely remote if there is a spike in cases.
Future Leaders in Action Overview:
Future Leaders in Action (FLIA) cultivates leaders and strengthens youth-oriented nonprofits through a fellowship program. Fellows, individuals interested in entering the social sector, work on-site full-time at a partner nonprofit to develop or implement a pre-determined enrichment program.
Throughout the fellowship, fellows gain various professional skills including time-management, communication, program development, in a fast-paced, hands-on learning environment.
Latino U College Access Overview:
Latino U College Access (LUCA) is a nonprofit organization whose mission empowers low-income, first-generation Latino students on their journeys to and through college so that they can fulfill their remarkable potential. LUCA’s approach is unique because of the depth and duration of student support; we make a six-year commitment to Scholars and families, walking with them every step of the way to and through college. We deliver three signature programs: 1) Latino U Scholars, 2) First-Gen Forward, and 3) Community Information Sessions, including Financial Aid support.
Position Overview and Responsibilities:
You will…
Support LUCA with the implementation and augmentation of the summer programs for 70-80 High School Scholars and 150 First Gen Forward (FGF) College Scholars
Includes various programs, including College Transition Series to support the Class of 2022 as they head to campus this Fall; Class Knowledge Orientation to support the Class of 2023 launch their college application process; and the FGF Program that ensures 100% of students are enrolled in college and have access to workshops around career readiness and networking.
Actively participate in weekly FLIA professional development responsibilities including check-in calls and virtual weekly leadership workshops
Attend virtual leadership training retreat and in-person gatherings with local fellows
By the end of the fellowship, you will have…
Provided recommendations on how to build community with Scholars and improve programming to be more fun and engaging
Conducted thorough outreach to Scholars and families through Mogli texting platform, to ensure 100% participation in summer programs and increase engagement throughout the school year
Reviewed summer workshop presentations to ensure that they are current
Assisted with delivering in-person student workshops increasing your knowledge of college access and college success
Collaborated with LUCA teammates to ensure a healthy work environment
Collected, shared, and organized photos, anecdotes and quotes from Scholars to be shared with the Communications team
Organized files in Google Drive folder, inputted data into Salesforce, and updated calendar
Written two blog articles for FLIA
Completed a final report and video about the fellowship
