COVID-19 Note:

Due to COVID-19, as a fellow you will work in-person, with some work from home available. Full vaccination or waiver are required for all staff, including the Fellow, as well as program participants. Individuals presenting a waiver must submit to weekly COVID-19 testing. Masks will be required for all in-person programming, regardless of vaccination status. FLIA and Genesys Works NYC may move the fellowship entirely remote if there is a spike in cases. 

Future Leaders in Action Overview:

Future Leaders in Action (FLIA) cultivates leaders and strengthens youth-oriented nonprofits through a fellowship program. Fellows, individuals interested in entering the social sector, work on-site full-time at a partner nonprofit to develop or implement a pre-determined enrichment program. 

Throughout the fellowship, fellows gain various professional skills including time-management, communication, program development, in a fast-paced, hands-on learning environment.

Genesys Works NYC Overview:

Genesys Works New York City (GWNYC) provides pathways to career success for high school students from underserved communities through skills training, meaningful paid work experiences, and impactful relationships. GWNYC creates opportunity and promotes equity by providing professional and technical training and hands-on work opportunities to high-potential, motivated, but underserved high school students in New York City—particularly from the Bronx—to help them achieve long-term economic self-sufficiency.

Position Overview and Responsibilities:

You will…

  • Serve as the point person for corporate volunteer events and activities during their 2022 student summer skills training. In this role, the FLIA Fellow will collaborate and work closely with GWNYC’s Program Manager and corporate partners to coordinate and execute a wide variety of skill development and experiential events and activities.

  • Actively participate in weekly FLIA professional development responsibilities including check-in calls and virtual weekly leadership workshops

  • Attend virtual leadership training retreat and in-person gatherings with local fellows 

By the end of the fellowship, you will have… 

  • Helped coordinate and manage 3-5 volunteer events

  • Helped coordinate and manage 4-6 days of Corporate Partners presenting curriculum

  • Helped set up 1 Schoology course

  • Oversee 7 weeks of daily student assignments

  • Provided onboarding support to 50 interns at the end of summer training

  • Helped manage up to 75 Salesforce records for interns

  • Written two blog articles for FLIA 

  • Completed a final report and video about the fellowship
