Social Media Fellow - Almost Fun

Location: New York, NY (remote)

Compensation: $875/week stipend

Future Leaders in Action Overview:

Future Leaders in Action (FLIA) cultivates leaders and strengthens youth-oriented nonprofits through a fellowship program. Fellows, individuals interested in entering the social sector, work on-site full-time at a partner nonprofit to develop or implement a pre-determined enrichment program. 

Throughout the fellowship, fellows gain various professional skills including time-management, communication, program development, in a fast-paced, hands-on learning environment.

Almost Fun Overview:

Almost Fun’s mission is to empower the math learning of low-income students and students of color through culturally-responsive, interactive learning resources. They provide free, digital math resources on their website that explain math through fun, interactive analogies and modules. Their goal is to meet student math needs where they are and at scale.

Position Overview and Responsibilities:

You will…

  • Develop Almost Fun’s summer social media strategy and outreach plan to grow our student and teacher followings and community, as well as, build upon their "March Mathness" social media challenge campaign.

  • Actively participate in weekly FLIA professional development responsibilities including check-in calls and virtual weekly leadership workshops

  • Attend virtual leadership training retreat and in-person gatherings with local fellows 

By the end of the fellowship, you will have… 

  • Developed a competitive analysis of other edtech social media strategies

  • Researched resources we can use for managing our social media

  • Created a strategic plan for Almost Fun’s social media including types of posts, cadence of posts, and ways to engage our community.

  • Implemented and managed posts and community engagement ideas.

  • Written two blog articles

  • Completed final report and video
