Galilea Lechuga with Latinos Latinas Al Exito

Galilea Lechuga is a fourth year architecture student at Iowa State University and currently resides in Des Moines, Iowa. She is passionate about design, community engagement, and creating spaces that positively impact the people who occupy them.

After graduation, Galilea hopes to become a licensed architect and create spaces that celebrate culture, identity, and community. As a first generation Latina entering a field where women of color remain underrepresented, she is committed to designing environments that reflect diverse experiences and foster a sense of belonging. She hopes to use architecture as a tool for cultural education by creating spaces that share stories, traditions, and histories of diverse communities, helping others gain a greater appreciation for different perspectives. Through her work she also hopes to give back through mentorship and community involvement, using architecture as a way to inspire and support future generations.

Outside of academics, Galilea enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, and exploring architecture and design. She also is actively involved in organizations that promote leadership, professional development, and cultural representation. Galilea is excited to continue growing as a designer while making a meaningful impact in her community and the architecture profession.
